MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced that a Queens man was arraigned on a grand jury indictment today for allegedly raping three women in three separate attacks between 2015 and 2020.
Adell Hardwick, 32, of Hollis, was arraigned today before Judge Robert McDonald and charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault (an A-II felony), three counts of rape in the first degree (a B violent felony) and three counts of criminal sexual act in the first degree (a B violent felony). The defendant was remanded and is due back in court on September 10. If convicted of all counts, he faces a maximum of 125 years to life in prison.
“Adell Hardwick allegedly preyed upon three women on the streets of Hempstead and brutally raped them,” said DA Singas. “These vicious attacks, which occurred between 2015 and 2020, are the marks of a serial predator. Thanks to DNA matches on all three cases, we will aggressively seek justice for these women. Nassau County is safer now that this defendant is apprehended.”
DA Singas said that on the evening of January 29, 2020, the female victim was leaving a local business and was allegedly approached from behind by the defendant who displayed a knife and brought her to an abandoned house on Hilton Avenue in Hempstead, where he allegedly raped and sodomized her.
On June 4, 2019, at approximately 6:00 pm, a second female victim was inside Denton Green Park in Hempstead when she was allegedly approached by the defendant, who allegedly pushed her toward a tree and raped and sodomized her.
On January 25, 2015, at approximately 9:00 pm, a now-deceased third female victim was walking on Main Street in Hempstead when she was allegedly attacked by the defendant and dragged to an abandoned house where she was allegedly forcibly raped and sodomized by the defendant.
NCPD Detectives arrested the defendant on April 23, 2020, following a re-examination of the cases after the defendant’s DNA matched the victims mentioned above.
Deputy Bureau Chief of DA Singas’ Major Offense Bureau Jared Rosenblatt, Senior Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Hernan of the County Court Trial Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Kevin Sheehan of the Special Victims Bureau are prosecuting this case. The defendant is represented by Glenn Hardy, Esq.
The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
