MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced that a Freeport woman was arraigned today on 13 grand jury indictment charges for a high-speed crash that killed a 39-year-old woman and injured the victim’s eight-year-old son.

Nicole Pollock, 26, was arraigned today before Judge William O’Brien on charges of:

  • Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (a B felony)
  • Manslaughter in the Second Degree (a C felony)
  • Vehicular Manslaughter in the First Degree (a C felony)
  • Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree (a D felony)
  • Assault in the Second Degree (a D violent felony)
  • Assault in the Third Degree (an A misdemeanor)
  • Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree (an A misdemeanor)
  • Reckless Driving (an unclassified misdemeanor)
  • Driving While Ability Impaired by the Combined Influence of Drugs or of Alcohol and Any Drug or Drugs (an unclassified misdemeanor)
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs (an unclassified misdemeanor)
  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (an unclassified misdemeanor)
  • Two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol (an unclassified misdemeanor)

Bail was continued at $200,000 bond or $100,000 cash, and the defendant is due back in court on March 30. If convicted of the highest charge, the defendant faces a potential maximum of 8-1/3 to 25 years in prison.

“These Grand Jury charges allege that an eight-year-old boy’s mother was killed in front of him because of this defendant’s decision to recklessly drive drunk,” DA Singas said. “My office is committed to obtaining justice for this young man and his family, although nothing will change this terrible loss. They have our sincere condolences.”

DA Singas said that on Sunday, February 2, at approximately 12:02 a.m., Lissette Quintanilla, 39, was driving north on the Meadowbrook Parkway just north of exit M7 in a red Kia with her eight-year old son.

The defendant, operating a grey Nissan Rogue, was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed and while highly intoxicated. Pollock allegedly collided into the back of the Kia, causing the victim to lose control of her vehicle, cross lanes of traffic into a wooded area and crash into a tree.

The collision caused the death of Quintanilla, and her eight-year-old son suffered a fractured arm and other injuries.

The defendant’s vehicle came to rest along a side rail north of where the fatal crash happened.

Pollock allegedly attempted to walk away from the scene but was stopped by a responding member of the Nassau County Police Department.

This case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorneys Christopher Casa and Lisa Corso of DA Singas’ Vehicular Crimes Bureau. The defendant is represented by Dennis Lemke, Esq.

The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
